Scientific departments

The primary activity of the MHPD is research and methodological studies in physics of multiple processes and heavy quarks and study of particle decays in beams of high-energy and ultrahigh-energy accelerators.

The activity of the Colliding Beams Department is mainly concentrated on preparation and conduct of collider experiments aimed at studying fundamental problems of high-energy elementary particle physics. Fixed-target accelerator experiments and R&D are also carried out to develop research techniques, equipment, and data processing methods and to train specialists.

The IEPD carries out investigations at Russian and foreign medium-energy accelerators—the JINR DLNP phasotron, PINP synchrocyclotron (Gatchina), COSY (Jülich, Germany), and PSI cyclotron (Switzerland).
